I S A F O R stands for Institution Support and Analysis, and Landuse and is an advice firm registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
I S A F O R provides its advice and consultancy services successfully to a wide range of institutions since its inception, July 2002. The founder and present director of I S A F O R is Erik Lammerts van Bueren. He decided with his resignation from Tropenbos International, to make his skills, knowledge and experience available to companies, institutes and policy makers in the field of forest and land use.
Personnel and associates
Erik Lammerts van Bueren is director of I S A F O R and holds an MSc degree in forestry economics. Main stations in his career are, supervising manager of the Netherlands state forests and nature conservation areas; Director Forestry and Landscape with the Netherlands State Forest Service, Ministry of Agriculture; Director Tropenbos International. He has a strong analytic and problem solving approach. His career has brought a wide experience and understanding of managing national and international operating organisations; organisation and structure of institutions; policy development and implementation. He serves in various (international) Boards and Committees.
He has proven specialised knowledge and experience with development and application of Criteria and Indicators (for SFM, Reduced Impact Logging, RIL, and the validation of legal timber), certification, the issue of illegal logging, and development and evaluation of forest policy (projects).
I S A F O R maintains an extended network. Depending on the nature and size of the task I S A F O R will work in collaboration with individual associates or institutions. The Director retains responsibility and assures high quality and timely delivery of all tasks which are being assigned to I S A F O R.
